Thrilling run for MLS payoffs.
DC United, Revolution and Houston are out, and if the Dynamo wouldn't be mathematically dead for sure is emotionally dead after Dero's goal in minute 92 last week and this week Wizard's amazing comeback.
We also watched the match of the week (live in ESPN2 and in GoalTV here in Canada) Galaxy vs RedBulls. What an ambiance! I personally loved all the expectation created around this game, especially in Twitter! Thats when you see the involvement of the fans. I love it.
Lets get into the game. No Henry, sad part. But, on the other side, Beckham not only started the game but he also played the 90min! Let me tell you, this guy is a warrior and if his team is loosing the closer we are to the final whistle the more intense he plays. Although too bad his skills repertoire isn't as wide as expected, we appreciate what he does in the pitch.
I still remember the important role Beckham played in 2007 La Liga title for Real Madrid, Fabio Capello could not believe the guy he discarted at beginning of the season (which led to Beckham desires to go int the MLS) was the key player at the end.
LA vs NY classic was not played with much wisdom although NYRB showed they know how to run the flanks with Lindpere and Richards, which indeed caused all the harm. I confess I was expecting more long precise passes from Rafa Marquez but the player that always makes damage is Dane Richards. I know many people don't like him, but he always plays well when I watch a Red Bull game. Other positive performance was the one made by Ballouchy but I still don't know what makes me happier whether his performance or the fact that Kandji is not anymore playing with the team.
On the Galaxy side, I like what Jouninho does for the team, but its not enough. Donovan was absent and we only saw him in the last minute when trying another all courageous play which he is getting used to. Bowen had more than 6 opportunities at the end but the guy could not handle the pressure, same to Edson Buddle. Galaxy was too disorganized to deserve a good result that night.
The rest of the league, Dallas FC showed that Hartman is not that important but... what-a-pass!! for Ferreira for the 3rd goal against the Wizards. No wonder he is MLS assist leader, he deserves the number "10" in the shirt 100%.
I must confess I didn't like De Rosario's celebration after scoring a top class goal (amazing one BTW). Seriously, don't mix the show with your bank account! Come on DeRo! I don't care if you're good, you deal your contact after the game. Anyway that was a hard one for Toronto FC, they must admit their defense loose their focus often and MLS is not a league that now forgives that kind of distractions. In the attack, I never agreed with leaving Mista in the bench, especially for O'Bryen White! (my feelings about this player are the same I have about Kandji, go to NASL!!) but how can you miss that header? A player that was pichichi in 2004 in La Liga can't miss that... TFC fans must be furious.
Finishing, is Conor Casey the most effective player in the league? I think he is... Bravo Conor! He scores 46% of his shots on goal, While Buddle only 37%.
see you next week!
